Washington, Viral Sach (H.S.) : US President Donald Trump criticized former ally Elon Musk’s plan to establish a new political party on Sunday. Trump stated, “I think it’s ridiculous to start a third party,” emphasizing the traditional two-party system and claiming a third party would only create confusion. Musk announced the formation of the ‘America Party’ on social media, aimed at challenging the Republican and Democratic “Uniparty.”
Previously, Musk had held a close relationship with Trump, even leading the Department of Government Efficiency to help reduce federal spending. Musk has voiced disapproval of government policies contributing to the national debt, indicating that while the new party might endorse a presidential candidate later, the initial focus is on Congress.
Trump expressed disappointment through his platform, Truth Social, suggesting Musk had gone “off the rails” and criticized his proposal for an Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate, which Trump argued would have forced consumers to buy electric cars quickly. Trump’s tax and spending plan, enacted on July 4, eliminated EV tax breaks and aimed to provide consumers with the freedom to choose between gasoline, hybrid, or new technology vehicles.
The legislation increased border security, defense, and energy spending, while making contentious cuts to healthcare and food support programs. Musk’s party idea coincided with his criticism of Trump’s spending.
