Dubai, Viral Sach (HS): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Sanjog Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), making him the seventh individual to hold this position. Gupta, who has over 20 years of experience in the sports and media industry, is currently the CEO of JioStar – Sports and Live Experience and is recognized for his skills in sports strategy, commercial development, and technology innovation.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah praised Gupta’s global experience and his focus on technology and fan engagement, believing he will help cricket reach new platforms, including the Olympics. Gupta was chosen from over 2,500 global applicants during a selection process that began in March 2025. The selection involved senior officials from various cricket boards and corporations, with the ICC’s HR and remuneration committee shortlisting 12 candidates for the nomination committee’s review.
Upon his appointment, Gupta expressed pride in leading the ICC at a time of significant global expansion for cricket, particularly with the sport’s return at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and advancements in technology. He aims to collaborate with ICC member boards to develop the game further, enhance fan experiences, and broaden cricket’s global presence.
Gupta’s career includes pivotal roles such as head of Disney-Star Sports, where he elevated major sports events and promoted innovations like women’s sports coverage and multilingual broadcasting.
