Washington D.C. , Viral Sach (Bureau) : The White House announced on Tuesday that the Trump administration will not permit Nvidia to sell its most sophisticated artificial intelligence chip, known as the “Blackwell,” to China at this time. The move is part of a broader strategy to keep the most advanced U.S. technology out of the hands of geopolitical rivals.”
As for the most advanced chips, the Blackwell chip, that’s not something we’re interested in selling to China at this time,” White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt stated during a press conference.This official statement reinforces President Donald Trump’s previously declared position.
On Sunday, the President asserted that the most advanced chips from Nvidia, the world’s most valuable semiconductor company, would be reserved for American companies and restricted from being sold to China and other nations.
The announcement puts to rest speculation that began in August about whether the administration might permit the sale of a scaled-down version of the Blackwell chip to China.
President Trump had previously suggested he was open to such sales and had hinted the topic might be discussed with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their summit in South Korea last week. However, Trump later confirmed that the chip issue was not raised during their meeting.
