Gurugram, Viral Sach (Manpreet Kaur) : HSIIDC recently carried out its first large‑scale demolition drive in Manesar, with Nodal Officer R. S. Batth acting as Duty Magistrate. Until now, most such operations had been confined to Gurugram, so this effort brings welcome relief to Manesar.
The drive targeted roughly 162 acres acquired between Sector 3, Manesar, and Khoh village. Although many residents had asked for the land to be returned instead of accepting monetary compensation, the area forms a crucial link between several industrial sectors and villages such as Kasan and Khoh, where many industrial workers live.

Over the years, illegal structures had narrowed the 66‑foot‑wide road to about 30 feet, causing chronic traffic jams. HSIIDC prepared a detailed plan and appointed R. S. Batth to oversee what was expected to be a delicate operation.
Supported by about 50 police personnel and four JCBs, the HSIIDC team reached the site and cleared:
A 500‑metre stretch of the 16.5‑foot village road in Kasan
A 500‑metre stretch of the 66‑foot main road in Khoh
They demolished 50 shops, 5 houses, and around 100 temporary structures. Occupants were asked to vacate beforehand so their belongings would not be damaged.
Although residents grew agitated at times, Duty Magistrate Batth calmed the situation by stressing that the clearance served the public interest and that roads and infrastructure could not remain encroached upon. The operation continued for two consecutive days and successfully restored the roads. The 66‑foot road alone carries an estimated 100,000 commuters daily, underscoring its importance.
“Maintaining law and order during the drive was challenging,” Batth said, “but public interest and critical infrastructure are our top priorities. Encroachments will not be tolerated.”
