Washington, Viral Sach (Bureau) : The Trump Obama treason accusation has sparked fresh controversy in U.S. politics. A spokesperson for former President Obama, Patrick Rodenbush, has strongly condemned Donald Trump’s recent claims that Obama committed “treason” by allegedly attempting to rig the 2016 and 2020 elections. Rodenbush called the allegations “ridiculous,” “bizarre,” and a “weak attempt at distraction”, noting that such inflammatory statements are part of a pattern of deflection.
“While we typically don’t respond to misinformation from the current administration, this crossed a line that required a response,” said Rodenbush.
He pointed out that no credible evidence supports the claim that Obama interfered in any election. He further clarified that the recently resurfaced documents Trump referred to do not change the longstanding bipartisan conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, but did not alter votes. That conclusion was reaffirmed by a 2020 bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report.
Trump made the comments in response to a reporter’s question about the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein case, where he unexpectedly pivoted to accusing Obama of “serious crimes” related to election manipulation. He claimed, “This was treason,” asserting that Obama attempted to “steal the election.”
Rodenbush dismissed those comments as part of an ongoing strategy by Trump to distract from legal scrutiny and public criticism.
